What are cookies and local storage?
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device. They are commonly used to remember preferences, keep you signed in, or, in other contexts, to measure audiences or display advertising. Alongside cookies there are similar technologies, such as local storage (localStorage) and session storage (sessionStorage), which also save information in your browser.
Unlike traditional cookies, data saved in localStorage stays on your device and is not automatically transmitted to the server with every request; it serves only to let the site itself remember something between visits. In this policy we use the word “storage” to refer generally to both cookies and these equivalent technologies.
What we do NOT use: advertising and third-party tracking
As of the publication date of this policy, the Lumora website does not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, social-media pixels, or behavioral profiling. We do not sell or share browsing information with advertising networks, and we do not build profiles to show you ads inside or outside this site.
We also do not currently use analytics tools (such as third-party visit counters). Should this change in the future, we explain it in the “Future changes and analytics” section below.
The only storage we use: your language preference
The site stores a single local-storage entry in your browser, identified by the key “lumora-lang”. Its purpose is to remember the language you chose (Spanish or English) so the site appears in that language on your next visit, without you having to select it again.
This entry contains only a short language code (for example, “es” or “en”). It does not contain your name, email, IP address, or any data that identifies you, is not shared with third parties, and is not used for any tracking. Given its strictly necessary and functional nature, it does not require prior consent under applicable regulations.
Storage categories
For greater transparency, we classify storage technologies into the usual categories and indicate which ones are active on the site today:
- Strictly necessary / functional — ACTIVE: “lumora-lang” (localStorage), which remembers your language preference. It enables basic functionality and minimal personalization of the site; it does not identify you.
- Analytics / measurement — NOT ACTIVE: we use no third-party analytics cookies or tools to measure traffic or visitor behavior.
- Advertising / marketing — NOT ACTIVE: we use no advertising, remarketing, or social-media tracking cookies or pixels.
Contacting us on WhatsApp
Our site has no forms and no newsletter: contact happens through WhatsApp, an external application operated by Meta Platforms. When you open a WhatsApp link you leave our site and that platform’s terms and privacy policy apply. Our page does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and does not create profiles about you.
The processing of that personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, where we explain the purposes, the legal basis, and how to exercise your ARCO rights (Access, Rectification, Cancellation, and Objection) under Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP).
How to manage or delete storage from your browser
You can view and delete this site's local storage at any time from your browser. Removing the “lumora-lang” key simply makes the site display in the default language again until you choose another; no important functionality is lost.
These are the usual paths to manage site cookies and storage in the most common browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data; or, on a page, open Developer Tools → Application tab → Local Storage.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data; on macOS also via the Develop menu if enabled.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.
Future changes and analytics
If in the future we add analytics tools or other technologies that do involve measurement or third-party cookies, we will update this policy to describe what is collected, for what purpose, and for how long. Where the law requires it, we will request your prior consent through a clear mechanism before activating such technologies.
This includes respecting your rights as a user in Mexico under the LFPDPPP, overseen by the INAI, and, where applicable, the additional obligations that apply to visitors in the European Union under the GDPR.
